Ivan is the Founder, Managing Director bringing more than 25 years of experience across insurance broking, corporate risk, strategic advisory and regulated financial services.
As the founding shareholder of Mulberry, Ivan has led the development of the company from its establishment into an independent and increasingly internationally connected insurance broking firm serving a diverse portfolio of corporate, commercial and private clients. He continues to lead the strategic direction and long-term development of the firm, with particular responsibility for growth strategy, leadership, international market relationships and the continued expansion of Mulberry’s capabilities across complex and specialist areas of risk.
Ivan has extensive experience advising corporate clients on complex insurance and risk matters. His expertise is particularly focused on Commercial and Liability risks, including major corporate programmes, complex contractual exposures and offshore risks within the Oil and Gas sector. He has also provided insurance and risk consultancy to Maltese organisations undertaking significant projects across North Africa and other international markets.
Throughout his career, Ivan has developed strong relationships across the international insurance and reinsurance market, including with specialist insurers, international broking partners at Lloyd’s in London. These relationships have been instrumental in strengthening Mulberry’s ability to access specialist capacity and structure tailored solutions for clients whose risks extend beyond conventional domestic insurance markets.
Prior to founding Mulberry, Ivan held senior and leadership positions within the Maltese insurance industry, including executive and regulatory responsibilities. This experience provided him with a strong foundation across insurance placement, corporate advisory, governance, regulatory compliance and the management of regulated insurance businesses.
Ivan has also served on the boards of a number of Maltese public and private entities, broadening his experience in corporate governance, leadership and strategic decision-making. He pursued his professional insurance studies with the Chartered Insurance Institute (UK).
Today, Ivan leads Mulberry alongside its senior executive team, setting the firm’s strategic priorities and driving the development of its people, partnerships and market proposition.
His leadership is centred on building a modern, entrepreneurial and internationally connected insurance business that combines strong local expertise with access to specialist global insurance markets.
As Mulberry continues to evolve, Ivan remains focused on its long-term growth and strategic development — strengthening its leadership capabilities, expanding its corporate and specialist risk proposition, developing its Protected Cell Company platform, and creating new opportunities for clients and strategic partners in Malta and internationally.
